Ascension Episcopal School is a Christian community committed to guiding children on their journey toward spiritual, intellectual and physical excellence using their God-given talents.
The purpose of the school is to offer a Christian educational program of the highest standards. Our school seeks to train and develop each of its students in the spiritual, intellectual, physical, social and emotional areas of the personality to an optimum level appropriate for the child’s age and abilities. As an integral part of the Church, the school seeks to instruct and implement in its daily relationships the values received from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ascension Episcopal School, founded in 1972 as a coed parish day school, offers programs for children ages 3 months through Fifth Grade. Ascension Episcopal has responded to the changing world but has preserved those elements which have stood the test of time. We remain committed to a strong academic program, low student/teacher ratio, a nurturing school community and attention to individualized learning styles which give students the creative freedom to achieve their potential.
Ascension Episcopal provides an atmosphere in which understanding, tolerance, self-esteem and confidence are instilled. The world of the future is becoming increasingly global and children at Ascension Episcopal are able to experience first hand this diversity and its value in a safe, Christian environment. Helping children realize their ambitions through Christian and academic guidance encourages them to develop into citizens who feel the rewards of contributing positively to society.
As an elementary school, our students are given time to grow, the space to choose and the love to learn. Responsibility around the campus increases as they mature, and the appreciation for their individual gifts deepens as they begin to understand their ability to influence the world around them. Ascension's faculty and staff are tenured professionals who have devoted their careers to the growth and education of our students. Such dedication yields students who are well prepared both academically and spiritually for the challenges of middle school.
In a diverse student body, our students make friends in the classroom, on the playground and through participation in extra-curricular activities. Through these shared experiences, our children learn to appreciate their differences and to celebrate each other's accomplishments. Ascension Episcopal School regards the diversity of race, color, nationality and religious affiliation as an educational asset and actively seeks this in its families. AES does not discriminate on the basis of the above in admission, enrollment process, the education policies or the administration of daily school programs.
We look forward to the opportunity of being part of your child’s journey to excellence.

Spiritual and Character Education is an integral part of the Ascension Episcopal School’s development of the total child. Discipline is taught through instruction and decision-making, rather than punishment. The staff nurtures each student with loving firmness, respect and fairness. We want our students’ interactions to be governed by a respect for others rather than fear of punishment. Weekly Chapel involves the teaching of Scripture and character traits through stories, dramatic play and object lessons. The students learn songs to sing in the classroom and in the weekly chapel services. Participation of Fourth and Fifth Grade students in chapel services encourages their speaking skills and leadership abilities. Parents, grandparents and friends are always welcome, especially during holiday celebrations and the time of the child’s birthday. Special Chapels are held for All Saints’ Day, St. Nicholas Day, Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Palm Sunday and Ascension Day.
